With our three programs, we are able to place 85% of our dogs with individuals with disabilities. The 15% that are not suitable for our programming transition into pet dogs. When this decision is made, we ask the dog’s Puppy Raiser if they would like to adopt the dog. If they decline, we refer to our waiting list for our Career Changed Dogs. These dogs have no specific skills training and are simply placed as a pet within the home of their adopter, and are generally one to two years of age upon placement.
The cost of a Career Change Dog is $1,000. All of our released dogs have been micro chipped, are up to date on their vaccines, are from well established breeding lines, and have attended weekly obedience training classes and extensive socialization.
Recipients of our Career Change Dogs become the sole owners of the dog upon receipt and are responsible for all expenses associated with the dog from that day forward.
Currently, an applicant may wait up to a year or longer to receive a Career Change Dog.
The timing of a Career Change Dog placement is determined by chronological position on the waiting list.
Each applicant is screened to ensure they meet our application criteria. Upon confirmation of this, an application is sent to the applicant to be completed and submitted along with one reference letter. Final acceptance is determined following review of the submitted application; applicants may be disqualified at any time during the application process.
